Scope
This document specifies the general requirements for ultrasonic testing of flash welded and thermite welded joints between bainitic alloy steel frogs and pearlitic carbon steel rails used in railways, including testing specimens, testing instruments and equipment, testing conditions and methods, defect detection and qualification assessment, testing records and reports, etc. This document is applicable to the testing of new welded rail joints between bainitic alloy steel frogs and pearlitic carbon steel rails, as well as in-service rail welded joints.
