Scope

This standard specifies the preparation of test specimens for chemical analysis of deposited metal, including the preparation of base metals, specimens, and the determination of the size and sampling of deposited metal.
This standard is applicable to the preparation of chemical analysis specimens of deposited metal for welding electrodes, gas shielded arc welding wires, gas shielded arc welding cored wires, self-shielded cored wires, tungsten inert gas shielded arc welding cored wires, and submerged arc welding wire-flux combinations.
This standard is applicable to welding materials such as steel, nickel and nickel alloys, copper and copper alloys.
