Scope

This document specifies the classification and marking of carbon steel strands used for reinforcing optical cables, the content of orders, dimensions, shapes and weights, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, quality certificates, warranty periods, transportation, safety, use and maintenance, etc. This document is applicable to carbon steel strands produced with zinc plating, zinc alloy plating and phosphating for reinforcing cores of optical cables, suspension cables for self-supporting optical cables, and similar applications.
