Scope

This document specifies the design requirements for the end connectors (hereinafter referred to as connectors) used to prevent the spread of oil spills at sea, and stipulates the minimum mating characteristics of the connectors, without being limited to specific configurations. Different types of connectors should be considered for use in different regions. This document does not define any priority. Manufacturers and users are responsible for selecting suitable connectors based on the intended application. The stability characteristics of the connectors are the result of the interaction between the floating bodies of the oil containment booms and the connectors. This document is not intended to address all safety issues (if any) associated with its use. However, it is the responsibility of the users of this document to establish safety and health procedures and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
