Scope
The standard is applicable to the evaluation of the load-carrying, anti-wear, and extreme-pressure performance of vehicle gear oils. This standard also provides a procedure for conducting the L-37 drive axle Canadian low-temperature test. Except for the items specified in Appendix D.2, the L-37 drive axle Canadian low-temperature test procedure is identical to the standard L-37 test procedure. The modification procedures listed in Appendix D.2 apply to the corresponding sections of the L-37 standard test method.
