Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies the method for determining the size and length-to-width ratio of crushed carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) materials, which is primarily applicable to recycled and reused CFRP. This document treats the shape of CFRP crushed materials as rectangles and stipulates the methods for measuring their length and width. This document is suitable for the following average-sized fragments:
——Length: 5 mm to 50 mm;
——Width: 1 mm to 10 mm.
This document provides three measurement methods: two are manual testing methods using microscopes and rulers, and the third is an automatic testing method using measuring instruments.
This document is applicable to CFRP crushed materials made from thermoset resins or thermoplastic resins as the matrix.
Note: If the CFRP crushed materials contain a large number of small fragments and fine particles, it is recommended to sieve them through a 1 mm pore-size sieve before measurement.
