Scope

This document describes the test principles, test equipment, samples, conditioning, test process, calculation and result display, and test report for determining the interlaminar fracture toughness (GⅠC) of fiber-metal laminates Type I and composite materials using single cantilever beam (SCB) samples and double cantilever beam (DCB) samples.
This document is applicable to determining the critical energy release rate (GⅠC), load-displacement curves, and GⅠC crack propagation resistance curves (R curves) of fiber-metal laminates and composites that exhibit Type I interlaminar fracture.
