Scope

This verification system table is applicable to DC electromotive force (voltage) measuring instruments. It specifies the use of the national reference for DC electromotive force units, which is the volt (V), and, with the help of secondary references, the procedure for transferring the value of the voltage unit to working references, standards, and working measuring instruments step by step, indicating the basic verification methods and the corresponding uncertainty δ (3σ).
This verification system table consists of three parts: metrological reference instruments, metrological standard instruments, and working metrological instruments.
In the verification system table, the uncertainty δ of the standard battery, which is usually selected as the standard, is approximately one-third of the annual change in the electromotive force of the standard battery being verified. The standard battery grade index used in the verification of DC potentiometers and DC digital voltmeters is generally 1/5 to 1/10 of the basic error of the corresponding instruments and meters.
