Scope

This document stipulates the general requirements for the collection and processing of human fecal samples, as well as the preparations before collection, the requirements and methods for sample and data collection, and sample and data processing.
This document is applicable to the collection and processing of human fecal samples used in clinical and basic medical research involving biobanks, and can be used as a reference by institutions (biobanks) engaged in the collection and preservation of human fecal samples, biobank users, biobank regulatory authorities, peer review organizations, and biobank quality and capability accreditation institutions.
This document is not applicable to the collection and processing of fecal (anal swab) samples conducted by clinical medical institutions for clinical diagnosis of diseases, observation of treatment effects, and therapeutic purposes.
