Scope

Scope: This document specifies the terms and definitions, site selection, variety selection, planting, management, harvesting, and post-harvest orchard management for dry-cultivated rice in young lychee orchards. This document is applicable to the dry-cultivated rice in young lychee orchards; Main technical contents: 1. Terms and definitions: The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document. 1.1 Dry cultivation of rice: A rice cultivation method in which seeds are directly sown on dry land, and the entire growth period relies mainly on natural precipitation. Only during critical watering periods or in drought conditions, water is supplemented appropriately. This method of cultivation does not involve flooding the fields during the entire process. 2. Site selection: Select lychee orchards with a sea level below 1,000 m, an average annual rainfall of more than 1,200 mm, and a planting period of no more than three years, with row spacing of more than 4 m on flat or terraced land. 3. Variety selection: Select rice varieties suitable for local dry cultivation, and the seed quality should meet the requirements of GB 4404. 4. Planting: 4.1 Seed treatment: Use seed coating agents registered for rice, which should be uniform and consistent. After coating, the seeds should be dried in a cool and ventilated place. 4.2 Application of base fertilizer: Apply 1,000 kg to 1,500 kg of composted farmyard manure or 200 kg of commercial organic fertilizer per mu, and plow it into the soil. The fertilizer application should comply with the provisions of NY/T 525. 4.3 Digging holes for planting: Dig holes with a length, width, and depth of 20 cm, 15 cm, and 10 cm, with a spacing of 30 cm. Loose soil should be piled aside for later use, and the holes should be 60 cm away from the drip line of the main crop's canopy. 4.4 Sowing: 4.4.1 Sowing time: From late April to early June each year, before the onset of the rainy season. 4.4.2 Sowing amount: For hybrid rice, 1 kg t
