Scope

This part of GB/T 17969 specifies the format and generation rules for users to generate 128-bit identifiers, which are either guaranteed to be globally unique or guaranteed to have a high probability of being globally unique.
UUIDs generated at a rate of one per 100 ns in accordance with this part are suitable for temporary use and can also serve as permanent identifiers.
This part originated from early non-standard specifications of UUIDs and their generation, and is technically equivalent to these early specifications.
This part specifies the operating procedures for web-based registration agencies used for UUIDs.
This part also specifies and allows the use of UUIDs (registered or unregistered) as OID components under the arc {joint-iso-itu-t uuid (25)}. This enables users to generate OIDs without the need for any registration procedures.
This part also specifies and allows the use of UUIDs (registered or unregistered) to form URNs.
