Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining the water content of polyols used as raw materials for polyurethane. Method A is a manual electrochemical method based on the Karl Fischer principle. The electrochemical method is used for most polyols, including colored polyols where the endpoint is not easily observable. Method B includes an automatic electrochemical method and an automatic coulometric method. The coulometric method is an absolute method that does not require calibration and is more sensitive than the electrochemical method.
