Scope
This standard specifies the method for determining the maximum reflectivity and random reflectivity of vitrinite on the polished surface of coal under an oil-immersion microscope.
This standard is applicable to the determination of reflectivity of single coal layers or mixed coals of bituminous coal and anthracite. The determination of reflectivity of lignite and the determination of reflectivity of dispersed organic matter in sedimentary rocks can be used as reference. This standard is not applicable to the method of interpreting the reflectivity values of vitrinite by computer software through automated microscopic analysis. This standard is not applicable to the determination of the proportion of mixed coals.
