GB/T 5470-2008 Plastics—Determination of the brittleness temperature by impact
Basic Information
Scope
This standard specifies the method of determining the embrittlement temperature of non-rigid plastics under specific impact conditions at standard environmental temperatures. According to the different types of testing machines and specimens, it is divided into two methods, namely: - Method A, which uses Type A testing machines and Type A specimens; - Method B, which uses Type B testing machines and Type B specimens. This standard uses statistical methods to determine the embrittlement temperature. Since the embrittlement temperature needs to be calculated on the basis of statistics, it is necessary to prepare a sufficient number of samples. Statistical techniques have been used to measure the embrittlement temperature as defined in Definition 3.1. This standard determines the embrittlement temperature when the specimen failure rate reaches 50%. This standard is more useful for formulating material specifications, rather than determining the minimum service temperature of the material. When used for material specifications, the measurement accuracy of the determined value shall not exceed ±5℃.
