Scope

This standard specifies the manufacturing requirements for seamless steel pipes (hereinafter referred to as "seamless pipes") and welded steel pipes (hereinafter referred to as "welded pipes") used in the pipeline transportation systems of the oil and gas industry, which include two product specification levels (PSL1 and PSL2).
This standard applies to the manufacture, inspection, marking, coating, recording, and loading of seamless pipes and welded pipes used in the pipeline transportation systems of the oil and gas industry.
This standard does not apply to cast iron pipes.
