Scope

This standard specifies the test methods for the main performance of emergency sound system equipment capable of broadcasting within protected areas in emergency situations, including the testing of emergency speakers and control and indication equipment. This standard applies to general sound reinforcement and distribution systems. It also applies to similar control and indication equipment used in broadcasting systems where the warning signals do not include voice information. This standard does not apply to systems that only include sounders or electric bells.
