Scope

This standard specifies the symbols and drawing rules for system flowcharts and piping instrumentation diagrams of refrigeration systems and heat pumps. These diagrams not only illustrate the structure and function of the refrigeration system, but also form part of all the technical documents necessary for the design, manufacture, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning of the refrigeration system. This standard does not apply to electrothermal refrigeration systems, such as the Peltier effect.
