Scope

This standard specifies the performance test methods for lip seals (hereinafter referred to as seals) of automotive rack-and-pinion power steering units.
This standard applies to high-pressure reciprocating seals installed on the output shaft of automotive rack-and-pinion power steering units that perform reciprocating motion, and low-pressure swing seals installed on the input shaft of automotive rack-and-pinion power steering units that perform forward and reverse motion.
