Scope

This part provides an optional method for specifying the rated values of speed-regulating electrical drive systems (PDS), particularly their basic drive modules (BDMs).
This part does not cover speed-regulating drives for traction applications.
The general guidelines for specifying the rated values of low-voltage DC speed-regulating electrical drive systems and the rated values of low-voltage AC variable-frequency electrical drive systems are provided in IEC 61800-1 and IEC 61800-2, respectively.
