Scope

This document specifies additional requirements for pole-mounted metal-enclosed switchgear with internal arc categories, including related terms and definitions, rated values, design and structure, type testing, and selection guidelines. This document applies to pole-mounted metal-enclosed switchgear with a rated voltage of 3.6 kV to 40.5 kV and a frequency of 50 Hz or lower. It applies to three-phase, two-phase, and single-phase equipment with open terminals. The enclosure may contain fixed and movable components and may be filled with insulating fluids (liquid or gas). Pole-mounted metal-enclosed switchgear, when complying with their respective product standards, must meet the requirements of this document related to internal arc categories. This document does not exclude other equipment that may be contained within the same enclosure. In this case, it is necessary to consider the potential impact of such equipment on the switchgear.
