Scope
This document specifies the processes required for data quality management. Each process is defined by its purpose, outcomes, and activities, which will be applied to data quality assurance. The following content falls within the scope of this document: -- Basic principles of data quality management; -- Structure of the data quality management process; -- Definition of sub-processes of data quality management; -- Relationship between data quality management and data governance; -- Implementation requirements. The following content is not within the scope of this document: -- Detailed methods or procedures for achieving the specified process outcomes. This document applies to managing the quality of digital data sets, which include not only structured data stored in databases but also unstructured data such as images, audio, videos, and electronic documents. This document can be used by organizations managing data quality at the organizational level, for example, in situations where multiple software applications are sharing and exchanging data. Internal and external parties, including certification bodies, use this document as a process reference model to evaluate the process capability or organizational maturity of data quality management and improve data quality through process improvement. This document can be used in conjunction with quality management system standards (such as ISO 9001), or it can be used independently. Appendix A specifies the identification of this document in information systems.
