Scope

Main technical content: Cultivation techniques 5.1 Epiphytic tree species, rock walls, and forest undergrowth - Select tree species with dense and robust branching, lateral branch growth, and thick and rough bark that is not easily peeled off, such as pear trees, date trees, pine trees, fir trees, bay trees, and chestnut trees. Preferentially choose sparse rock walls or forest undergrowth on semi-shaded slopes. 5.2 Seedlings - Seedlings should comply with the requirements of D33/T 635.2, and high-quality, high-yielding, and stress-resistant varieties should be selected. Preferably use 1-2-year-old domesticated plants. 5.3 Transplanting time - Spring: Late February to early May. - Autumn: Late October to early December. 5.4 Planting methods 5.4.1 Live tree transplanting - Plant trees at a row spacing of 1–1.3 m, with the trunk above 80 cm from the ground. Use straw ropes, non-woven fabrics, hemp ropes, or tree bark soaked in purified water to tie domesticated Dendrobium officinale plants at a spacing of 20–30 cm per cluster, with at least 3 seedlings per cluster. Tie the plants to the trunk according to their growth direction, with the maximum height limited to safe harvesting (no higher than 2.5 m). 5.4.2 Rock wall cultivation - Select semi-shaded, sparse rock walls with a slope of 60–90°. Use wood chips, tree bark, or moss to fix the plants at a spacing of 10–20 cm per cluster, with at least 3 seedlings per cluster. 5.4.3 Log-trunk epiphytic cultivation - Place logs at a height of at least 0.5 m above the ground, with a row spacing of 0.3–0.5 m. Tie domesticated Dendrobium officinale plants to the trunk at a spacing of 10–12 cm per cluster, with at least 4 seedlings per cluster. - For upright log cultivation, use logs ≥2.5 m in length and ≥12 cm in diameter, with a height above ≥2 m and a row spacing of ≥1 m.
