Scope
This standard specifies the terminology, performance requirements, and test methods for vehicle alarm systems (VAS) of commercial vehicles with a maximum permissible total mass exceeding 3.5 tons.
This standard applies to vehicle alarm systems that detect/sense and alert the driver of abnormal openings of doors, trunk lids, engine hoods, etc., emergencies, and situations such as the tilting of the cab and the disconnection or power failure of the trailer, including both original vehicle-equipped systems and retrofitted vehicle alarm systems.
Three test examples related to the functional testing of in-vehicle protection systems are provided in Appendix A.
