Basic Information
Scope
This document describes a method for measuring the directional diffusion coefficient of a surface.
The diffusion coefficient describes the uniformity of the directional distribution of sound reflection on a surface, and is an indicator of the sound scattering characteristics of the surface. It is used to inform producers and users about the sound diffusion performance of the surface, and also provides information for developers and users of indoor acoustic prediction models. However, the diffusion coefficient is not suitable for being directly used as an input quantity in current diffusion algorithms in indoor geometric acoustic models.
This document also describes in detail the method for characterizing the sound diffusion characteristics of a surface in a free field.
