Scope
The PAD performs many functions and has many operational features. Some of these functions allow the start-stop DTE and/or the packet DTE (or the remote PAD) to select the PAD's configuration, so that the PAD's operation can suit the characteristics of the start-stop DTE and may be put into practical use.
