Scope

This standard provides guidance and recommendations on the overall design, data content, database system, software platform, system functions, system interface, system operating environment, system security, and system maintenance of geographic information systems for oil and gas pipelines.
This standard applies to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of onshore steel pipelines for transporting oil and gas.
This standard does not apply to submarine oil and gas pipelines, urban gas pipelines, oil and gas field gathering and transportation pipelines, aviation fuel pipelines in airports, and inter-plant and intra-plant oil and gas pipelines in petrochemical enterprises.
