Scope

This document specifies the symbols for the balance grade of flexible couplings, the potential unbalance of couplings and the balance accuracy grade, the selection of the balance accuracy grade of couplings, the factors affecting the potential unbalance of couplings that have not been balanced, the factors affecting the potential unbalance of couplings that have been balanced, and the determination of the potential unbalance of couplings.
This document is applicable to the selection of the balance accuracy grade and the calculation of the potential unbalance of flexible couplings used in closed gear drive devices.
Note: Application examples of using this document and the method of GB/T 9239.1—2006 are shown in Appendix K.
This document does not include the influence of the following factors on the unbalance:
—— shaft runout;
—— key protruding from the hub or shaft;
—— unfilled key grooves or pin grooves;
—— clearance between the mounting surfaces of the couplings;
—— non-homogeneous materials;
—— bending reference plane.
This document is not applicable to the calculation of the potential unbalance of flexible couplings used to compensate for the relative displacement of two shafts through elastic deflection.
