Scope

This document is applicable to industrial electromagnetic flowmeters used to measure the flow of conductive liquids in closed, full pipes. It covers electromagnetic flowmeters that use either AC or pulsed DC excitation, as well as those powered by mains electricity, batteries, or other sources. It is not applicable to insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeters, electromagnetic flowmeters used in open channels or non-full pipes, or those used to measure ferromagnetic slurries or liquid metals. This document does not specify safety requirements for the use of electromagnetic flowmeters in hazardous environments.
