GB/T 20138-2023 Degrees of protection provided by enclosures for electrical equipment against external mechanical impacts(IK code)

Scope

This document applies to the protection classification of electrical equipment housings against external mechanical impacts, with a rated voltage not exceeding 72.5 kV. The purpose of this document is to specify: a) The definition of the protection level of electrical equipment housings to protect internal devices from harmful effects caused by mechanical impacts; b) The marking of protection levels; c) The requirements for each marking; d) The tests to be conducted to verify whether the housing meets the requirements of this document. It is the responsibility of each technical committee to determine the extent and manner of adopting this classification method in the standards they develop, to define the "housing" of the equipment under their jurisdiction, and to ensure that the tests for any specified classification are consistent with the provisions of this document. If necessary, additional requirements may be added to the corresponding product standards. For certain specific types of equipment, the product committee may stipulate different requirements, provided that the same level of safety protection is achieved. This document only applies to housings that meet the requirements of the corresponding product standards in all other aspects of their intended use, and from the perspective of materials and processing, the housing has achieved the claimed protection level under normal operating conditions.
