Scope

This standard specifies the procedures for pressure testing of steel pipelines used to transport natural gas, petroleum gas, hazardous liquids, highly volatile liquids, and carbon dioxide. This standard applies to pressure testing of pipelines and their components, including: line pipelines, station pipelines, pipeline accessories, pipeline equipment accessories, assembly components, valves, pipe fittings, etc. This standard does not apply to pump groups, compressor groups, pressure relief tanks, pressure vessels, control pipelines, sampling pipelines, instrumentation pipelines, or other components or pipeline systems specified in other standards for pressure testing (such as boilers and pressure vessels, and pipeline systems covered by building standards). This standard also does not apply to pressure testing of pipeline systems that use natural gas, nitrogen, or air as the pressure testing medium.
