Scope

This document describes three methods for determining the fineness of flax fibers using airflow techniques:
—— Constant-flow method with two compressions, using samples of parallel fibers (see Chapter 5);
—— Simplified constant-flow method with one compression, using samples of randomly distributed fibers (see Chapter 6);
—— Constant-pressure method with one compression, using samples of randomly distributed fibers (see Chapter 7).
This document is applicable to flax fibers processed through degumming and combing, such as flax tow, combed flax, short-fiber flax, flax slivers, and cotton-type flax, as well as the determination of the fineness of different forms of fibers during their processing.
