Scope
This standard specifies the method for determining sialic acid in food.
The first method in this standard, liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detection, is suitable for determining the bound sialic acid in bird's nest and its products. The second method, liquid chromatography-fluorescence detection, and the third method, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry, are suitable for determining sialic acid in liquid milk, milk powder, pastries, and beverages.
