Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements for network vulnerability scanning products that use the Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), proposes the security objectives and environment for the implementation of network vulnerability scanning products, and provides the basic functions, enhanced functions, and security assurance requirements of the products. This standard applies to the development, production, and certification of security products that conduct vulnerability scans of systems and devices via the network. This standard does not apply to products specifically designed for vulnerability scanning of database systems.
