Scope

This standard specifies the test methods for the corrosion resistance of medical instruments and dental handheld instruments made of martensitic and austenitic stainless steel. This standard applies to medical instruments made of martensitic stainless steel (such as scissors, forceps, tweezers, etc.), medical instruments made of austenitic stainless steel (such as injection needles, acupuncture needles, stainless steel intrauterine devices, dental stainless steel wires, etc.), and also applies to materials used in the manufacture of medical instruments made of austenitic stainless steel. This standard does not apply to martensitic and austenitic stainless steel surgical implants.
