Scope

This document specifies the mechanical and physical properties, chemical properties, anti-mildew performance, environmental protection performance, appearance, and material requirements of polyester fiber waterproofing yarns used in communication cables and optical cables (hereinafter referred to as waterproofing yarns). It describes the corresponding test methods and inspection rules, and stipulates the packaging, marking, transportation, and storage requirements. It also provides product models and markings. This document is applicable to the design, manufacture, use, and inspection of waterproofing yarns used in communication cables, optical cables, and hybrid optical cables. Note: This document does not include aramid fiber waterproofing yarns and glass fiber waterproofing yarns, which primarily enhance functionality and have secondary waterproofing functions. Their related requirements are specified in YD/T 1181.2 and YD/T 1181.4.
