Scope

This document describes the upward and downward dose method (UDP) for acute oral toxicity testing of chemicals.
This document is applicable to the testing of the acute oral toxicity of chemicals using the UDP method. This method is more suitable for substances that cause death within one or two days after exposure.
This document is not applicable to substances that may cause a significant delay in the expected time of death (5 days or more) after exposure.
