Scope

This standard applies to residual current operated protective devices (hereinafter referred to as residual current protective devices, abbreviated as RCDs) with a rated voltage not exceeding 440 V AC, primarily used for protection against electric shock hazards. The technical requirements of this standard are used by technical committees and relevant units when drafting product standards, and are only applicable when combined with or referenced in related standards. This standard is not intended to be used as a standalone standard, for example, as a certification standard on its own.
