Scope

This standard specifies the test methods for electric locomotives before they are put into use after being manufactured. This standard applies to electric locomotives with a gauge of 1,435 mm, single-phase AC 50 Hz, and 25 kV mainline electric locomotives (hereinafter referred to as locomotives). Other similar locomotives that are not specified in this standard can also be referenced and adopted for use.
