Scope

This document presents the geometry of bevel gears. The term "bevel gear" is used for the design of straight-toothed bevel gears, arc-toothed bevel gears, zero-degree bevel gears, and quasi-hyperboloidal gears. If the content in this document only relates to one or more (rather than all) of these forms, this will be specifically noted. The processing of the target tooth profile described in this document can be carried out using various methods, which are universal and do not imply a specific process. This document also includes the geometric relationships for calculating the evaluation coefficients of bevel gears, such as ISO 10300 (all parts). This document is suitable for experienced gear designers who can rely on their knowledge and background to make reasonable choices for the required values. This document is not suitable for general technicians. The framework for the calculation method is provided in Appendix A.
