GB/T 23270.1-2009 Information and documentation—Open system interconnection—Interlibrary loan application protocol specification—Part 1:Protocol specification
Basic Information
Scope
This part of GB/T 23270 defines the meta-agreement for interlibrary loan application services and describes the behavioral norms that a system must follow to join the interlibrary loan service.
It provides the behavioral rules for both or multiple parties joining the interlibrary loan business and stipulates:
a) The actions to be taken when receiving a service request primitive from an interlibrary loan client;
b) The actions to be taken when receiving application protocol data units;
c) The actions to be taken by the local system as a result of an event.
It describes the abstract syntax required for transmitting application protocol data units of the interlibrary loan protocol (see Chapter 9).
It points out the consistency requirements that must be followed in protocol implementation (see Chapter 10).
The scope of the interlibrary loan protocol is limited to system interconnectivity; it does not stipulate or restrict possible interactions within a computer system. The scope of a computer system includes everything from a single workstation to a mainframe.
This part is intended for use by libraries, union catalog centers, and other information institutions, as well as other bibliographic information processing systems. These systems may join the interlibrary loan transaction as a requestor (the initiator of an interlibrary loan request, i.e., a client), a responder (the provider of bibliographic information or data, i.e., a service provider), and/or an intermediary (an agent who searches for a suitable responder for the requestor).
The protocol supports topological relationships of different interaction structures, from simple bilateral interactions to multilateral interactions.
