Tea tree cultivation 5.1.1 Planting time The best time for planting tea seedlings is late September to late November in autumn, or late February to early March in spring. 5.1.2 Planting specifications - Double-row single-stem cultivation: - Wide row spacing: 1.5–2.0 m - Narrow row spacing: 33–40 cm - 1 plant per clump, planted in staggered rows with a clump spacing of 17–23 cm - 3,000–4,000 plants per 666.7 m2 - Single-row double-stem cultivation: - Slope width < 1.5 m: Use single-row double-stem cultivation with 2 plants per clump and a clump spacing of 35–45 cm - 3,000–4,000 plants per 666.7 m2 5.1.3 Planting method 5.1.3.1 Half a month before planting, dig deep planting trenches 60 cm wide and 40 cm deep. Apply sufficient base fertilizer (1,500–2,000 kg of harmless organic fertilizer per 666.7 m2), along with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Apply fertilizer in layers within the planting trenches and backfill with topsoil to slightly above ground level. 5.1.3.2 Dig shallow trenches along the planting trenches, straighten the tea seedlings in the trenches, arrange the roots properly, and backfill with topsoil to the root neck. When the seedlings reach 30 cm in height and 12–15 cm above the ground, remove the main stem and retain the side branches. 5.2.1.2 The second shaping pruning should be carried out one year after the first. When the tree height reaches 35–40 cm, prune 10–15 cm above the previous cut. 5.2.1.3 The third shaping pruning should be performed half a year to a year after the second.
