Scope

This standard specifies the special technical requirements related to the surrounding atmosphere for high-voltage electrical equipment operating in high-altitude areas above 1,000 m but not exceeding 5,000 m above sea level.
This standard applies to high-voltage electrical equipment used in three-phase AC power systems and DC power systems with a maximum voltage greater than 1 kV, including: circuit breakers, disconnect switches, load switches, grounding switches, fuses, arresters, current limiting reactors, current transformers, as well as combined electrical equipment and complete distribution devices. It also applies to single-phase and two-phase systems.
