Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, basic requirements, gas stations and facilities, gas metal pipelines, electrical systems, and electronic systems related to lightning protection for urban gas systems. This standard applies to the design and construction of lightning protection for new, renovated, and expanded urban gas systems. Existing urban gas systems can also refer to this standard for lightning protection. This standard does not apply to the design of gas systems on marine and inland river ships, railway vehicles, automobiles, and other transportation vehicles.
