Scope

This standard provides guidance and recommendations for conducting an evaluation of the effectiveness of recalling defective automotive products, and outlines the basic process for conducting such an evaluation, the recall effectiveness evaluation model, the recall effectiveness evaluation process, and information on how to handle the evaluation results.
This standard applies to the evaluation of the effectiveness of recall activities conducted by the evaluating entity in response to safety defects in automotive products during the implementation and management of recall programs. The evaluation of the effectiveness of recall activities for safety defects in automotive replacement parts and other motor vehicle products other than automotive products may refer to this standard; the evaluation of the effectiveness of recall activities for environmental protection purposes in motor vehicles may also refer to this standard.
