Basic Information
Scope
This section describes the interface between manufacturing control functions and other enterprise functions. The interface considered is the interface between the third and fourth layers of the hierarchy model defined in this section. Its purpose is to reduce the risks, costs, and errors associated with implementing these interfaces. This section can be used to reduce the workload associated with implementing new products. Its purpose is to enable interoperability and easy integration between enterprise systems and control systems. The scope of this section is limited to: a) Introducing the scope of manufacturing operations and control fields; b) Discussing the organization of physical assets involved in manufacturing enterprises; c) Listing the functions related to the interface between control functions and enterprise functions; d) Describing the information shared between control functions and enterprise functions.
