Scope

This standard describes the formulation, issuance, and implementation of agreements on the recognition and acceptance of the work results of institutions engaged in similar conformity assessment and related activities. This standard applies to activities related to cross-border market transactions that are not subject to government regulation. Although the content of this standard can be referenced in intergovernmental agreements on the regulation of goods and services transactions, this standard is essentially descriptive and general in nature, and does not specifically address the special requirements that may be stipulated in intergovernmental agreements. How to obtain and continuously enrich the human and institutional resources necessary for participating in inter-institutional agreements is not within the scope of this standard.
