Scope

Scope: This document specifies the terms and definitions, monitoring methods, and prevention and control technologies for the prevention and control of the prickly ash borer moth (Scrobipalpa erichiodes Bidzilya et Li), a species of the Gelechiidae family in the Lepidoptera order and a specialized pest of prickly ash. Details are provided in Appendices A and B. This document is applicable to prickly ash production in Ningxia. Main Technical Content: 3. Terms and Definitions: There are no terms or definitions requiring definition in this document. 4. Control Objects: The prickly ash borer moth (Scrobipalpa erichiodes Bidzilya et Li), a species of the Gelechiidae family in the Lepidoptera order and a specialized pest of prickly ash, is the target of this document. Details are provided in Appendices A and B. 5. Monitoring: 5.1 Location: Based on the distribution of prickly ash planting areas, 1 sampling area is set up per 6.67 hectares, with 3 monitoring points determined in each sampling area, and 3 sets of insect-attracting lamps are installed at each monitoring point, with a spacing of more than 50 meters between each lamp. 5.2 Time: During the leaf unfolding and shoot growth period, fruit ripening period, and autumn shoot growth period. 5.3 Methods: Monitoring is conducted using portable solar-powered insect-attracting lamps. The lamps are suspended at 2/3 of the tree crown to avoid being obscured by leaves. Daily inspections are conducted and sticky boards are replaced once a day. When the first adult insect is found, prevention and control measures are implemented immediately. 6. Prevention and Control Techniques: 6.1 Field Cleaning: After each pruning, timely remove dead branches, fallen leaves, and weeds from the field. 6.2 Insect Attraction with Straw Bundles: During the leaf unfolding and shoot growth period, fruit ripening period, and autumn shoot growth period, insects are attracted to the trunks by tying straw, wheat straw, or corrugated paper bundles,
