Scope
This standard defines a conceptual model for describing the spatial characteristics of geographic elements and a set of spatial operations based on these models. It handles vector geometry and topology within three dimensions, and defines standard spatial operations for accessing, querying, managing, processing, and exchanging geographic information of spatial objects (geometric and topological) located in a coordinate space with up to three axes and no more than three topological dimensions.
