Basic Information
Scope
This standard specifies the basic principles and specific procedures for risk assessment. The purpose of this standard is to provide a method for making decisions on elevator safety in the following work: - The design, manufacture, and installation of elevators, elevator components, and systems; - Establishing general procedures for the use, operation, testing, conformity verification, and maintenance, repair, and modification of elevators; - Establishing norms and standards related to elevator safety. Although the examples in this standard primarily address the risk of personal injury, the risk assessment procedures specified in this standard can be equally effective in assessing other types of risks related to elevators, such as the assessment of risks of property and environmental damage.
