Scope
This document specifies the overall classification of tree species (groups) such as fir (Abies spp.), spruce (Picea spp.), larch (Larix spp.), Masson pine (Pinus massoniana), Japanese larch (P. tabulaeformis), Yunnan pine (P. yunnanensis), Simao pine (P. kesiya var. langbianensis), alpine pine (P. densata), Huangshan pine (P. taiwanensis), Mongolian spruce (P. sylvestris var. mongolica), swamp pine (P. elliottii), cypress (Cupress spp.), fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata), Japanese yew (Cryptomeria fortunei), oak (Quercus spp.), birch (Betula spp.), poplar (Populus spp.), linden (Tilia spp.), elm (Ulmus spp.), Schima superba, and Liquidambar formosana, including their aboveground biomass models, itemized biomass models, underground biomass models, biomass conversion factor models, compatible standing tree volume models, root-shoot ratio models, wood density, carbon content coefficients, and model applications.
This document is applicable to the measurement of forest biomass and carbon storage of the aforementioned major tree species (groups) across China.
